COVID-19 Premium Pay: Safety and Safety Management

Dear SEBA Safety and Safety Management members,

As part of the recent contract enhancement, the County agreed to provide “COVID-19 Premium Pay” in the amount of $1,800 per member who has been (and remains) employed by the County since April 9, 2022. The first payment is set to be distributed “on or about” August 24, 2022. The second payment will be paid “on our about” December 14, 2022.

However, it was recently discovered that a small portion of our members will be receiving their COVID-19 Premium Pay in three to four payments, depending on their circumstance.

How do you know if you are affected?

  • If a member took less than 80 hours of leave during the eligibility period, they will receive a lump sum of $900 for that period, for a maximum total of $1,800 over the eligibility periods.

  • If a member took more than 80 hours of leave during the eligibility period, they will receive a lump sum of $450 for that period, for a maximum total of $1,800 over the eligibility periods.

It is important to note; The county approved four eligibility periods to help ensure all members can receive the full $1,800 in premium pay. The last eligibility period ends June 30, 2023.

This information was not communicated during our informational briefings or video, and for that, I sincerely apologize. Although the total dollar amount does not change, the manner in which you will be receiving the money may change. Please review the attached language directly from the new MOU to see if you qualify for two payments of $900 or up to four payments of $450, or combination of the two.

Our team here at SEBA takes pride in our transparency and communication. We strive to improve where we can and appreciate your understanding.

If you have any questions about this item or any other, please do not hesitate to call and speak with us here at SEBA, (909) 885-6074.

Best regards,
