The Art of War Boxing

Growing up as a Black man in a tough neighborhood, Art Satterwhite found symbolism in the sport of boxing; the discipline and grit required to keep fighting even after being knocked down. So decades later, when his 8-year-old son suffered from the country-wide COVID lockdowns, Satterwhite knew boxing would help him persevere.

Now a deputy sheriff, he founded The Art of War Boxing Club to help kids learn the “sweet science” of boxing, tenacity and endurance. The program quickly morphed into something bigger, something that has allowed Satterwhite to give back to his community and show them how to fight for success.
